Margie Horton is a business professional with 50 years of experience in the health insurance industry.  In February of 2005, she joined Designed Protection Insurance Services, Inc. as its third principal.

 

Prior to joining Designed Protection, Margie was a Marketing Consultant at CBIZ Benefit & Insurance Services. Her exclusive client was a Trust account for public school district where she managed the growth and retention and of 25,000 fully insured employees.  Additionally, her responsibilities included consulting in the areas of utilization and market trends. 

 

Previous to this, Margie enjoyed 15 years with Health Net as a Senior Account Executive.  Here she had new sales responsibility for the large and mid-size group market in San Bernardino, Riverside and parts of Los Angeles Counties. Margie also did a 15-year stint at Blue Cross of California where she began her insurance career.  She originally worked in Office Management and Administration, and then shifted into Marketing and Data Analysis.

 

Margie holds an Associate degree in Business Law, a Bachelor’s in Business Administration, and a Master’s degree with a major in management and a minor business ethics.  She maintains a Registered Health Underwriter credential, and is a licensed Interior Decorator.

 

Margie served her community as a Level 1 Reserve Deputy for the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department in the Criminal Investigations Division for four years.  She briefly held a faculty position at the University of Phoenix to facilitate courses in Business Ethics.  She enjoys training her two Beagles and competes regularly in Obedience, Agility, Tracking, Rally.  She resides with her husband in Calimesa.
